Nichole's image of Shapeshifter was chosen as it caught an emotive moment in a live performance. Using black and white to emphasise shape and form, the image was well presented showing the singer and the drummer. The band's name on the kick drum provided important context, and the 'light beams' in the background created additional movement in the image.

Nichole's image of Ladi6 is a strong photojournalistic image perfectly capturing the singer waving a Tino Rangatiratanga flag, emphasising the importance to the singer of her Maori identity. Nichole captured an excellent image, exposed and composed nicely, despite the challenges of a live concert environment.
